Christina Fenendael is a Certified Rolfer® and Licensed MassageTherapist with an Intraoral Massage Endorsement in WA state.  She received her BFA in Dance from the University of Minnesota in 2003, and has been dancing, teaching, or choregraphing professionally ever since.   Before attending the Dr. Ida Rolf Institute® in 2017, she worked as a trainer for a decade—including 5 years in a sports physical therapy clinic, where she was an athletic trainer and physical therapy aid.  She offered rehab and post-rehab-training and pain-relieving modalities for all active people, but also specialized in one-on-one yoga for patients recovering from serious injuries and surgeries.

She has a Yoga Alliance-approved instructor certification and trained as a Pilates instructor to better meet the needs of patients and clients. She graduated from the Dr. Ida Rolf Institute® in 2018 and moved to Seattle from Oakland, CA.

In the summer of 2020, after moving to Boulder, CO, she traveled to Puerto Escondido, Mexico, to do intensive circus training and provide Rolfing® Structural Integration sessions, and in August of 2022 transitioned from Colorado to set up a permanent practice in Minneapolis, MN.

She is dedicated to providing Rolfing® Structural Integration sessions in Minnesota during the majority of the year, and also sees clients in both Boulder, CO, and Puerto Escondido, Mexico during her travels for continuing education as a bodyworker and professional performer.

While she loves working with people from all walks of life, historically, the majority of her clients have been members of the stage community, including dancers, singers, stagehands, acrobats, jugglers, contortionists, aerialists, and even one magician!  Her goal, regardless of her client’s various passions, is to help her clients uncover their own potential for efficient, pain-free movement, and hopefully find some joy in the process!

Rolfing® Structural Integration traditionally follows a sequence of ten unique sessions, that are done in a specific order. Each session builds upon the previous and seeks to give the client new kinesthetic experiences every time. The Rolfer® works gradually deeper as the sessions progress, culminating in the 7th session (which is the session with the “deepest” level of work, tissue-wise), and then gradually withdraws during the final 3 sessions.

Keep in mind that while there are consistent, overarching goals for each session of the 10-Series, every client’s needs (and specific personal goals) are unique, thus every session is tailored to the individual.  Some of the general goals of the 10-Series are: improved posture, ease and efficiency of breath and movement, and an optimal use of gravity and momentum in everyday life.

Rolfing® Structural Integration works on the connective tissues and nervous system to create positive, lasting change for clients. A good Rolfer™ will work well within a client’s boundaries to facilitate change without inflicting pain. It is not uncommon to feel some soreness, a sense of “shifting,” or new physical awareness when it comes to everyday movement or posture soon after a session. It is important to give yourself time between sessions to fully integrate the new information your nervous system has received.
